Game Engineer

We need a full-time Game Engineer. You will be working in our Seattle, WA office.

We are a small, agile team so you’ll be expected to work on a broad variety of features and systems. We will also expect you to contribute creatively by being involved in the design process, and proactively prototyping new ideas and solutions.

 

REQUIREMENTs

  • Minimum five years of experience in games or a closely-related field – we want to see shipped games (small/indie games are fine)
  • Fluency in networking and multiplayer concepts
  • Strong 3D math background (e.g., linear algebra, vector math)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in C#
  • Experience with Unity, Unreal, or a similar game engine
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous development environments.
  • A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

 

BONUS POINTS

  • Strong background in Augmented and/or Virtual Reality technologies (e.g., HTC Vive, Steam VR, Oculus Rift, etc.)
  • Recent console experience (e.g., PlayStation 4, Xbox One)
  • Experience with live services and rapid-deployment
  • Experience with metrics/telemetry
  • Experience with and passion for design

Community Manager

We need a full-time Community Manager.  You will be working in our Seattle, WA office.  

Our app Rec Room is a social VR service with a growing community of users from all around the world. Our mission is to ensure that Rec Room is a fun and welcoming environment for people from all walks of life.

Our ideal candidate is as passionate about that mission as we are. If you are excited about the potential of social VR, have insight and wisdom about fostering positive and inclusive communities, and have great judgement under pressure… we want to hear from you!

 In traditional terms we see this role as a blend of Community Manager (70%) and Social Media Manager (30%).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engaging directly and often with the player community both in VR (e.g., hosting community town hall meetings in VR in Rec Room) and via traditional social media channels (e.g., Reddit, Discord, Twitter)

  • Working to foster a positive community culture based on our Code of Conduct.

  • Working with engineers and designers to understand our moderation systems and ensure that incidents that violate the Code of Conduct are handled appropriately. This includes suggesting improvements to our systems.

  • Working with the community to create, support, schedule and promote events. There is considerable scope for innovation here, and we are looking for someone who can be energetic and creative in this area.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrable experience and expertise with community management and social media
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Pragmatic and level-headed demeanour
  • Endless patience and a sense of humor
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous development environments.
  • Some ability to respond out of traditional office hours in the case of urgent community incidents. We don’t mean “you’re on call 24/7” but there will be occasional stuff that comes up on a night or weekend.
  • A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

 

BONUS POINTS

  • Familiar with online communities in the games space (Steam, Reddit, Discord, Twitter, specific game forums, etc.)
  • Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude, Google Analytics)
  • Technical skills (e.g., self-sufficient with Excel, scripting, etc.)

 


FULL STACK WEB DEVELOPER

 

We need a full-time Full Stack Web Developer. You will be working in our Seattle, WA office.

Our app, Rec Room, is a social VR service with a growing community of users from all around the world. Our mission is to ensure that Rec Room is a fun and welcoming environment for people from all walks of life.

Our community can’t spend 24/7 in VR (yet!), but we’re expanding the ways our community can interact even when they’re not in VR.  We’re looking for a self-driven full stack engineer who can design, build and deploy a website that interacts with the Rec Room VR app.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • Minimum five years of experience working in web development
  • Extremely strong eye for UI/UX and design of web interfaces.  We’re looking for you to build a buttery smooth and beautiful website  
  • Experience building websites for mobile and desktop
  • Strong front end skills.  Framework and tech is up to you
  • Experience with Azure and .NET
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

BONUS POINTS

  • Familiar with online communities in the games space (Steam, Reddit, Discord, Twitter, specific game forums, etc.)
  • Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude, Google Analytics)
  • Familiarity with WebVR
