SR. GAME DEV

We need a full-time Game Engineer. You will be working in our Seattle, WA office.

We are a small, agile team so you’ll be expected to work on a broad variety of features and systems. We will also expect you to contribute creatively by being involved in the design process, and proactively prototyping new ideas and solutions.

 

REQUIREMENTs

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience

  • Minimum five years of experience in games or a closely-related field – we want to see shipped games (small/indie games are fine)

  • Fluency in networking and multiplayer concepts

  • Strong 3D math background (e.g., linear algebra, vector math)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Fluency in C#

  • Experience with Unity, Unreal, or a similar game engine

  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous development environments.

  • A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

 

BONUS POINTS

  • Strong background in Augmented and/or Virtual Reality technologies (e.g., HTC Vive, Steam VR, Oculus Rift, etc.)

  • Recent console experience (e.g., PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

  • Experience with live services and rapid-deployment

  • Experience with metrics/telemetry

  • Experience with and passion for design


SERVER DEV

We need a full-time Server Engineer. You will be working in our Seattle, WA office.

You’ll be primarily responsible for the design and development of the Azure cloud services powering our game. We are a small, agile team so you’ll be expected to work on a broad variety of features and systems. We will also expect you to contribute creatively by being involved in the design process, and proactively prototyping new ideas and solutions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years writing and maintaining cloud services using .NET/C#

  • Experience with Entity Framework, ASP.NET, and WCF

  • Knowledge of synchronization techniques in stateless distributed systems, and experience building RESTful API backend services

  • Experience using various cloud storage systems (SQL, NoSQL, Blob storage, etc.) and an understanding of the tradeoffs between them

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous development environments

  • A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

BONUS POINTS

  • Experience with Game Development and Game Engines (preferably Unity)

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services

  • Experience working on backend services for social networks


MOBILE DEV

We need a full-time Mobile Dev. You will be working in our Seattle, WA office.

We are a small, agile team so you’ll be expected to work on a broad variety of features and systems. We will also expect you to contribute creatively by being involved in the design process, and proactively prototyping new ideas and solutions.

 

REQUIREMENTs

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience

3D ARTIST - CONTRACT

We need a contract 3D Artist available to work remotely.

Against Gravity is looking for a contract 3D Artist to help build character and prop assets. You will be modeling, texturing, and implementing 3D assets into Unity using provided concept art or inspirational reference material. We are a small, agile team so you’ll be expected to touch on a broad variety of disciplines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain consistent aesthetic and technical quality across all assets

  • Model stylized props while working in a low poly style

  • Strong understanding of modeling fundamentals and a good eye for silhouette

  • Iterate quickly on character and prop fidelity

  • Knowledge of color theory and the ability to create balanced and appealing color palettes

  • Ability to create and maintain materials within Unity

  • Paint appealing low contrast textures from reference/concept or scratch

REQUIREMENTS

  • Successfully shipped a title working as a 3D Artist or equivalent title.

  • Expert understanding of Maya and/or Blender

  • Proficient and self sufficient in Unity

  • Ability to hand paint stylized textures in Photoshop

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous development environments

  • Portfolio examples exhibit working in a strong style

BONUS POINTS

  • Strong background in Virtual Reality technologies (e.g., HTC Vive, Steam VR, Oculus Rift, etc.)

  • Ability to visit our office weekly in Seattle


QA TESTER


We need a full time QA Tester. Before applying, please note that:

  • You must be available to work full time in our office in downtown Seattle

Our app, Rec Room, is a cross-platform social playground with a growing community of users from all around the world. Our mission is to ensure that Rec Room is a fun and welcoming environment for people from all walks of life.

An app of this size and complexity needs constant testing. That’s where you come in! In this role you will:

  • Spend the bulk of your time in app, using a variety of VR headsets and a variety of traditional screen-based devices. You will become a deep expert on all things Rec Room!

  • Ensure that Jira is always up-to-date with high quality bug reports and test passes

  • Work closely with the entire Rec Room team to understand and reproduce bugs during development of new features

  • Work closely with the entire Rec Room team to develop test plans

  • Develop a strong relationship with the Rec Room community, so that we can quickly understand and respond to issues that crop up “in the wild”

  • From time-to-time you will likely be pulled into special events (trailer shoots, community town halls, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be available to work full-time in our office in downtown Seattle.

  • Willing and able to participate in the Rec Room community on Reddit, Discord, and similar forums.

  • Willing to spend time in multiplayer sessions with Rec Room community members (as part of the repro hunting process).

  • Demonstrable experience as a software tester, especially the ability to write high quality repro steps

  • A methodical and detail-oriented work style. You will often be required to puzzle out why a certain issue is happening, which requires strong critical thinking and applied logic skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Please include the phrase “I understand that this is a full time testing role, and not an immediate stepping stone to a design/art/engineering job” somewhere in your application.

BONUS POINTS

  • Experience with Jira or similar tools

  • Experience testing multiplayer video games

  • Familiar with online communities in the games space (Steam, Reddit, Discord, Twitter, specific game forums, etc.)

  • Familiarity with the Unity game engine (even as a hobbyist, just know your way around the UI is an advantage)

  • Experience with VR devices generally

  • Experience with Rec Room specifically
